Sanātana App Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Tappect for your use of the Sanātana app.

Last updated: August 2026 · App: Sanātana · Developer: Tappect · Package: com.tappect.sanatana

In short

  • Sanātana is completely free. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions and no advertising.
  • You need an account to use the app, and you are responsible for keeping your sign-in details safe.
  • AI features are for reflection only — they are not professional, medical, legal or financial advice.
  • You can delete your account at any time from Settings or by email.

This summary is for convenience only. The full terms below are what apply.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") form an agreement between you and Tappect ("Tappect", "we", "us" or "our") covering your use of the Sanātana mobile application and any related services we provide (together, the "Service").

By downloading, creating an account in, or using Sanātana, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Service.

Sanātana is suitable for users of all ages. If you are under the age of majority where you live, please read these Terms together with a parent or guardian, and use the app with their consent.

Your use of the Service is also covered by the Sanātana Privacy Policy, which explains what data we collect and how we handle it.

2. What Sanātana Is

Sanātana is a personal spiritual practice companion. Depending on the version you have installed, the Service may include:

  • Aartis, mantras and bhajans — lyrics to read and audio to listen to, with a background audio player.
  • A sacred text library — books, chapters and verses, with favourites and reading history.
  • Saints and teachings — profiles of saints, their works and selected teachings.
  • Practice tracking — a daily sadhana checklist, japa and mala counting, meditation timers, vrat logs, sankalpas, streaks and achievements.
  • The virtual diya — a lamp you light with an intention, which stays lit using "fuel" earned through your practice in the app.
  • Gyan Path — a structured set of lessons and quizzes.
  • Panchang and festival calendar — tithi, nakshatra, sunrise and sunset calculations and a festival list.
  • AI features — an AI spiritual guide you can ask questions, AI-generated horoscopes, and AI-generated dietary reflection. See section 7.
  • Reminders — optional notifications scheduled on your device for your chosen practices.

We may add, change or remove features at any time as the app develops. We do not promise that any particular feature or piece of content will always be available.

Some parts of the Service need an internet connection — in particular the sacred text library, saints content, audio streaming and the AI features. Your mobile carrier's data charges apply to your use of the app; we do not cover them.

3. The App Is Free — No Purchases or Subscriptions

Sanātana is provided free of charge. As of the date of these Terms, the app contains:

  • No in-app purchases. There is nothing to buy inside the app.
  • No subscriptions or paid tiers. Every feature is available to every signed-in user.
  • No advertising. We do not show ads and we do not sell advertising space in the app.

Because there is nothing to pay for, there is nothing to refund, cancel or manage in your app store subscriptions.

If we ever introduce paid features in a future version, we will say so clearly before you are asked to pay, and paid features will always be optional to purchase. Nothing you can already use today will be moved behind a payment without notice.

4. Your Account

An account is required to use Sanātana, so that your practice history and progress can be saved and synced to your devices. You can sign up with an email address and password, or sign in with Google or Apple.

You agree that:

  • The information you give us when registering is accurate, and you keep it up to date.
  • You are responsible for your credentials. Keep your password and any linked Google or Apple account secure, and do not share them. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
  • You will tell us at hello@tappect.com promptly if you believe someone else has accessed your account.
  • You will not create an account on someone else's behalf.

We are not able to recover data from an account you have lost access to unless you can show that the account is yours.

5. Acceptable Use

Sanātana is meant for your own personal, non-commercial spiritual practice. When using the Service, you agree not to:

  • Break any applicable law, or use the app for an unlawful purpose.
  • Copy, download in bulk, scrape, redistribute, resell or publish content from the app, except for your own personal use and ordinary sharing of individual verses or teachings.
  • Attempt to access accounts, data or parts of our systems that are not yours.
  • Interfere with, overload, disrupt or attempt to reverse engineer the Service, or bypass any technical limits or security measures.
  • Use the AI features to generate content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, or that impersonates another person.
  • Submit content you do not have the right to submit, or upload malicious code.
  • Use automated tools, bots or scripts to interact with the Service or to inflate streaks, achievements or usage statistics.

If your use of the Service harms other users, harms us, or breaks these Terms, we may restrict or end your access as described in section 11.

6. Devotional and Scriptural Content

Sanātana presents aartis, mantras, bhajans, scriptural verses, teachings of saints, panchang calculations and festival information. This material is provided for your personal spiritual practice, study and reflection.

Translations, transliterations, summaries and explanatory notes are offered in good faith, and traditions differ. Different lineages, regions and teachers hold different readings of the same text, and calendar and panchang calculations vary by method and by location. We do not present our version as the single authoritative one, and we do not claim to represent any particular sampradaya, temple or religious authority.

Content in the app is not a substitute for guidance from a qualified teacher, priest or your own tradition. If accuracy matters for a ritual you are performing, please verify it with a trusted source.

If you believe something in the app is inaccurate or presented disrespectfully, please tell us at hello@tappect.com and we will look into it.

7. AI-Generated Content Is Not Professional Advice

Parts of Sanātana are generated by artificial intelligence — including the AI spiritual guide you can chat with, the daily and period horoscopes, and AI-generated dietary reflection.

AI-generated content is offered for personal reflection and inspiration only. It is not professional, medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, and it must not be relied on as a substitute for a qualified professional.

Please keep the following in mind whenever you use these features:

  • AI systems can be confidently wrong. Responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, out of date or inconsistent with the tradition you follow.
  • Health. Do not use the app to diagnose or treat any condition, and do not start, stop or change a fast, diet, medication or treatment on the basis of anything the app says. Speak to a doctor or a qualified practitioner.
  • Horoscopes and astrological content. These are generated for reflection and entertainment. They are not a prediction of what will happen, and should not be used to make significant decisions about your health, finances, relationships, career, travel or legal position.
  • Crisis situations. The AI guide is not a counsellor or a crisis service. If you are in distress or thinking about harming yourself, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis helpline immediately.
  • You are responsible for how you act on anything the AI features produce.

Questions you send to the AI features are processed by a third-party AI provider so that a response can be generated. Please do not include sensitive personal information, and see the Privacy Policy for details on how this data is handled.

8. Intellectual Property

8.1 Our Rights

The Sanātana app — its software, design, layout, artwork, illustrations, original text, curation and the Sanātana and Tappect names and logos — belongs to Tappect or to our licensors, and is protected by intellectual property law. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of any of it to you.

8.2 Your Licence to Use the App

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use Sanātana on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial spiritual practice, for as long as you comply with these Terms.

8.3 Traditional and Third-Party Material

Many of the scriptures, mantras and aartis in the app are traditional works that are in the public domain. Where we use recordings, translations, imagery or other material from third parties, those remain the property of their respective owners and are used with permission or under the applicable licence. Our compilation, arrangement and presentation of that material is still protected.

If you own rights in material you believe has been used in the app without proper permission, contact us at hello@tappect.com with details and we will investigate and, where appropriate, remove it.

8.4 Your Content

Content you create in the app — such as your intentions, sankalpas, custom mantras, notes and messages to the AI guide — remains yours. You grant us only the permission we need to store, process and display that content back to you in order to operate the Service. We do not claim ownership of it and we do not sell it.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

Sanātana is provided free of charge, on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties or guarantees about the Service, and in particular we do not warrant that:

  • the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or free of errors;
  • any content, translation, panchang calculation or AI-generated response will be accurate, complete or suitable for your purposes;
  • reminders and notifications will always be delivered — they are scheduled on your device and can be delayed or suppressed by your device's operating system, battery settings or permissions, so please do not rely on them for anything time-critical;
  • data stored in the Service will never be lost. Please export anything you want to keep permanently.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tappect will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. This includes loss of data, loss of profits, and loss or damage resulting from your reliance on content or AI-generated responses in the app.

Because the Service is provided to you free of charge, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid us for the Service (which is zero) or USD 50.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

11. Ending Your Use of the Service

11.1 Deleting Your Account

You can stop using Sanātana at any time by deleting the app, and you can delete your account and its data at any time from Settings → Account & Data → Delete Account, or by emailing us.

Deletion is scheduled with a 30-day grace period so an accidental request can be undone. Full details, including what is deleted and how to cancel a request, are on the account deletion page.

11.2 Suspension or Termination by Us

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you materially break these Terms, if your use puts the Service or other users at risk, or if we are required to do so by law. Where it is reasonable and lawful to do so, we will let you know and give you a chance to put things right first.

We may also discontinue the Service as a whole. If we do, we will give reasonable notice so that you can export your data.

11.3 What Survives

Sections covering intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and any provisions that by their nature should continue will survive the end of your use of the Service.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time — for example when features change or when the law requires it. The date at the top of this page always shows when the current version was published.

If we make a material change, we will give reasonable notice through the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Sanātana after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, please stop using the Service and delete your account.
